Fethullah Gülen’s Statement on Wildfires in Canada

August 21, 2023– I am deeply saddened by the news of the massive wildfires in western Canada that burned millions of acres, forced many thousands to evacuate their homes and cost four firefighters their lives.

My thoughts and prayers are with those across Canada who are continuing to face these devastating fires in what is described as the worst wildfire season in the country’s history.

I am confident that the resilient and resourceful spirit of the Canadian people will help them overcome this challenge and restore the damaged habitat.

May this tragic event be an occasion to reflect worldwide on the blessings we enjoy on this planet, review and strengthen our means for protecting the environment, and ready ourselves for dealing with such disasters.

I express my heartfelt condolences to the families of the firefighters who lost their lives, to the country’s national and local leaders, and to the people of Canada.

I pray to God, the Most Compassionate, to help all Canadians affected by wildfires and the personnel who are working to contain and extinguish the fires.
