Fethullah Gülen’s Message for the UNESCO International Teachers’ Day
October 5, 2021 -On the occasion of International Teachers’ Day, I sincerely congratulate and thank all teachers, the most influential architects of the sustainable peace and welfare of humanity.
Our teachers’ efforts are critical in developing the potential of our youth and helping them become peaceful and virtuous women and men who will pursue the common good rather than their individual interests. It is essential for families, society, and teachers to cooperate to raise generations who have moral integrity and whose principles are kneaded with universal values.
During the current COVID-19 pandemic, I would like to thank the teachers, one by one, who mobilized for their students with innovative ideas, pushed the limits, and found new solutions while making an effort to protect the physical and mental health of their students. I hope and wish that the different forms of education discovered or streamlined during this epidemic will contribute to providing access to quality education in many parts of the world and that the relevant administrators will provide the necessary support and produce lasting solutions.
On this occasion, I also applaud the devoted teachers within Hizmet who mobilized with the dream of providing access to high-quality education in their homeland and in every corner of the world, and who are today the victims of a political witch hunt by the Turkish government. On this occasion, I ask from God the Most Compassionate that all the teachers who were forcibly separated from their students will return to a peaceful education setting as soon as possible.
Once again, I congratulate all teachers on International Teachers’ Day.
