AfSV Message on the Anti-Semitic Attack During a Hanukkah Celebration in Monsey, NY
December 30, 2019 – The weekend attack at the home of a rabbi in Monsey, NY, during a Hanukkah celebration was another tragic example of violence against people freely practicing their religion.
We strongly condemn this horrific attack, which was described as a case of hate-driven domestic terrorism by the authorities.
Such attacks have no place in modern society and are an affront to all of humanity.
We all must continue the difficult work of bridging cultures, religions, and languages in an effort to end such violence. The freedom of religion is a fundamental human right and must be respected by everyone.
We pray for the quick recovery of the five victims and hope that the Monsey community finds peace in the new year.
