Alliance for Shared Values Message for the Holy Month of Ramadan

March 3, 2025– As we welcome the blessed month of Ramadan, the Alliance for Shared Values extends warm wishes and prayers for a blessed Ramadan to Muslims around the world. This sacred time of reflection and prayer reminds us of our shared humanity and the values that unite us across different faiths and traditions.

The act of fasting enables practitioners to better experience the suffering of those who do not have secure access to food, develop empathy for their condition and motivate action via both direct humanitarian assistance as well as sustainable projects for eliminating poverty around the world.

During this month, we recommit ourselves to activities that embrace the values of compassion, selfless service and mutual understanding, including humanitarian relief efforts that reach those in need, and perhaps most importantly during this month, interfaith dialogue among diverse communities that builds bridges of understanding.

The tradition of Iftar, fast-breaking dinners, offers a perfect opportunity to nurture these connections. Breaking fast together creates a sacred space where people of all faiths can gather, share experiences, and discover our common aspirations for peace and human dignity. These gatherings exemplify how the simple act of sharing a meal can transform strangers into friends and foster the mutual respect essential for a harmonious society.

As we observe this holy month, we pray that those in need around the world are nurtured, those experiencing violent conflicts find security and peace, and humanity take steps toward making our world a better place to live. We invite community members of all backgrounds to join in Iftar dinners, volunteer in service projects, and engage in meaningful dialogue. Together, we can honor Ramadan’s spirit of generosity and reflection while strengthening the bonds that connect us all.
