14 July 2024– We unequivocally condemn the assassination attempt on former President Donald J. Trump, which also tragically resulted in the death of an attendee and two spectators. We denounce this heinous act and the evil mentality behind it.

No person has a right to end the life of someone whose ideas or actions they do not like. As the Holy Quran teaches us, an attempt at one person’s life is as gruesome as an attempt on the lives of all humanity because it violates the sanctity of life.

The fact that such an attempt was made in the United States, a country that is one of the most important beacons of democracy in the world, is deeply concerning because it points to the extremes where increasing political polarization can take our society. Today, more than ever, we need to develop the consciousness of listening to and understanding each other, respecting different ideas and philosophies of life, and resolving our differences in civilized ways.

We send our wishes for quick recovery to Mr. Trump and those injured, and we offer our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of firefighter Corey Comperatore who lost his life in the incident and to all the American people.  

We are praying for an end to all forms of violence and the continuation of American democracy with more vigor than before
