Located along the side of the screen, the Navigation Pane provides a quick way to access the objects in Microsoft Access. You can hide or show the Navigation Pane at any time. When you need to increase your workspace, close or hide the Navigation Pane. When you create a new Blank desktop database or use an existing Access desktop database, you can set options from the open database so that the Navigation Pane does not display when the specific desktop database is opened.
From the open desktop database, click the File tab, and then click Options. Note: We do not recommend hiding the Navigation Pane in desktop databases unless the database employs a screen such as a switchboard a form with buttons or links that enable you to navigate around the database or uses another method for opening the objects in the database.

I have created a membership database for our American Legion Post. I have all of the forms and reports that anyone would need to use on the switchboard. I am now looking at distributing this database to other posts within the Legion.
Knowing how people can be I do not want anyone to be able to go in and edit or delete my tables, queries, forms and reports. My 2 questions are: Is there a way to lock the navigation pane so no one can open it up and thus open any of the content? And is there a way to block them from right clicking on the tab name and opening the form or report in design view? Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. I turned off: Display Doc Tabs, Use Access special keys, enable layout view, enable design changes in datasheet view, and display navigation pane.
I then went into the Customize Ribbon and hid all of the items on the ribbon so now the only option on the ribbon is: File, and tell me what you want to do. I have all the functions that the users need in the quick access toolbar. This hid and locked the navigation pane and disabled the F11 function.
However, when I open a form or report and then right click the window opens to allow access to the design view. I did the same and changed the extension to. Scottgem MVP. Ken Sheridan. You should also disable special keys in the current database to prevent the user pressing F11 and opening the navigation pane. PS: Also be sure that no code selects an object in the navigation pane. This will expose it.
